As a partner agency of HappyBottoms, ICOA is committed to increasing the number of families who have enough diapers to keep their children clean, dry, and healthy. Having fresh diapers reduces the risk of child abuse.
Children are eligible to receive diapers through HappyBottoms if they are less than four years old, their families are experiencing financial need and they live in the one of the following counties: Wyandotte, Johnson, Cass, Clay or Jackson county.
Soon, ICOA will provide bilingual Bibles so that the families who receive diapers can spend happy hours reading together.
Currently 100 young children receive their monthly supply of diapers from HappyBottoms at ICOA.
“What a great morning!!!"
The diaper bank is open Tuesday morning from 9:00 - 11:30 am. Except for the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. There may be weeks when we are forced to close due to inclement weather.

ICOA needs one volunteer, who can speak Spanish and English each Tuesday morning to distribute diapers, explain the program to young families, and help with applications.
On a monthly basis, ICOA needs a volunteer to pick up diapers from HappyBottoms. This requires a van or truck with cargo space and the ability to carefully inventory the diapers.

Distribute diapers to families. This volunteer is the face of the program who interacts with the young families. The distribution can take place outside or inside. Ability to speak Spanish is required.
“You have a very special team who serves the community! "
Wear comfortable clothes appropriate for the weather. In the summer, you may want shorts, lightweight shirt, and a hat. In the winter, you’ll want a winter coat, hat, and gloves. Our indoor space is heated or cooled with our new HVAC.
On Tuesday mornings park in the Kanza Medical Center’s parking lot. It is north of the building on 32nd St. There are steps between this parking lot and ICOA’s building.
Enter through the door near the circle drive on the north end of the building and report to Deb Hartje.
Water, coffee, and other snacks are available for volunteers. Many weeks, Ryan Hartje will cook wonderful tasting food for volunteers to enjoy after we cleanup. Snacks vary each week.
"I had 6300 steps recorded this morning...so thank you for helping me get a workout in 😊
Looking forward to joining again soon!”
Since many of the young families speak Spanish, the ability to speak in Spanish and English is required to distribute diapers.
